Looks like those strict gun laws are really working for them. The writer of this article is obviously anti-gun as well. It amazes me what some people think.

Nothing in this article points out that gun control doesn't work. I'm not a fan of getting rid of guns (hence my presence on these forums), but picking out this one bad seed as proof of the failure of the entire system is... stupid. There are plenty of real reasons to avoid the disarmament of the population.

He's actually a perfect example that gun control has failed. In a country where even the police are not typically armed, and (I'm fairly certain handguns are entirely illegal for civilian ownership) this guy managed to get his hands one not just a handgun, but a grenade as well, just for good measure. He then proceeded to murder four individuals. This is not a sole instance, nor some rare occurrence. Determination to possess weapons illicitly, and use them to inflict violence on others is not going to be dissuaded by any law. In this way, we can say that attempts to control who can possess weapons is an utter failure. Again, it's not like this is some coelacanth-type event, laying unknown and undiscovered. Stupid reactionary laws, especially USELESS, stupid reactionary laws are no solution. No to any problem, ever. Unless they are to satisfy donors, and post political electability by being "tough on crime."

I don't think he is throwing this out there as proof, but rather as an example. It is a very good example that their gun control doesn't work, but to be proof would need many more facts to back it up. This is one instance of a larger problem. Britain's violent crime rates are through the roof, even if only a few cops were killed with guns in the last decade.

Where did you read that? The only armed police I ever saw were the SRT teams in Beijing during the Olympics and the 2009 National Day celebration. The average officer driving his Volkswagen Golf didn't even appear to have a radio, let alone a gun...
