2023 Deer Season

Taking my uncle out in the morning.
He'll be using his trusted Remington BDL custom in .25-06.
I'll be using a Howa 1500 action chambered for 6.5 Creedmoor and bedded in an American Built Arms (ABA) aluminum chassis.

I've had scarce little time for prep this year due to dealing with the new house.
Still, I am really looking forward to the morning and have pretty high hopes.

To date, our property is not known for monster "trophy " bucks, but we have respectable 8, 9, &10 pointers.

It's hard to cover 50 acres so it's always the luck of the draw.

sitting by the fire outside since I’m tagged out. Already heard 15 shots. Jealousy……


First 30 minutes of shooting light was a barrage of fire probably 25 shots total now been quiet ever since

Huge rub found this morning, no deer seen

Got a nice doe this morning around 8 in Lafayette with my browning a-bolt in .243. Shortly after had a spike bed down about twenty yards from my stand. He hung around awhile then wandered off. Not near as many shots this morning as I expected to hear.

Great morning but saw no deer at all which is strange. Did see an owl grab a grey squirrel for breakfast.

Did hear somebody starting off with a few shots and then moving to mag dump, At least 15 shots.

In my blind with my trusty and never rusty Western Auto 12g pump loaded with slugs....and all I see are squirrels.

We heard around 10 shots this morning, not terribly busy. Saw 4 does wander through then a lone doe about an hour later. No bucks seen from the blind or on camera.

I am still out and haven’t seen anything. My buddy hunting a couple of ridges over saw a 6 point dogging a doe. Guy that owns the farm across the road his son got dandy 8 point this morning
