I was scoping out the guns at Gander Mountain and ran across a .22 M1 carbine look-alike made by Chiappa. Does anyone have any experience with one? Accuracy, reliability, could you use one in an Appleseed?
I held one once. Was NOT impressed. Too much plastic. I have heard bad things about them.
That said...my plan as I don't want to plop the cash down for a M1 carbine is to buy a 10/22 and convert it over to a M1 Carbine. Thats on the short list of 'projects'.
I bought a new Chiappa .22 upper for my AR. What a POS Jam-o-matic. Would jam 8 out of 10 using various ammo. I sent it back for warranty. It came back 6 months later and only jammed about 1 in 10. I traded it of and let them know the issues. FWIW The bolt slide rail looked like it was machined with a grinder. No more Chiappa crap for me. I lost my a$$ on it.
