I have tons of 22 lr rifles and pistols, but am considering my first 22WMR. I don't feel like investing a lot as this will only be used for some plinking and fun. What is a reasonable starter that is relatively reliable. Bolt or semi are fine, either way.

The Marlin XT series is nice. They can come with an adjustable trigger and bull barrel. I have one in .17 HMR. I'm not sure if they make them with iron sights so you might have to factor in a scope as well. I got mine with tax out the door for $289

Not many 22mag semiautos out there, and the ones there are are a bit pricey .
Bolts are in abundance and start at around $200 NIB for a Marlin or Savage. Either would be a decent starter, test the waters gun with no vices.

I bought a 22lr/22mag convertible single action revolver but have yet to locate any 22 mag ammo to try it out.

I live between Greensburg and Columbus and have not had any trouble keeping 22wmr,but 22lr is not available unless you want to pay stupid for it.
