I went to Cabelas in Hammond a couple days ago and they were having a sale on different calibers, particularly .223. The PMC .223 was $8.99 a box, regularly $9.99, which is the best deal I have seen in the NWI area. Gander Mountain in Merrillville had some higher prices, at $11 a box. DO NOT go to Midwest Gun Exchange in Mishawaka for ammo. All their ammo prices are through the roof, with .223 at $15.99 a box.

Seems typical. I saw Independence 5.56 here in SW Indiana at the Princeton Walmart for $10.99 for 20 rounds. The Right to Bear Arms shop down the road in Haubstadt will regularly put PMC Bronze .223 on their shelves for $7.97 per 20 rounds. (I usually pick up some of that when it's in stock.)

.22lr is still completely absent down here, unless you're willing to pay around $5 (or more) per 50 rounds of premium stuff.

steel .223 is about the same level as brass was a year ago. i haven't seen pmc bronze for ages, which is sad as its my favorite round.

its kind of like gasoline, we're all used to it now, so $3.50 seems like a bargain.

Midwest Gun Exchange had their 50rd boxes of Fiocchi 40gr V-Max on sale last week for $22/box. Works out to about $8.80/20rds. I have been getting the 50gr v-max for my MVP at <$30/50rd box and I did not think $12/box on V-Max loads was too bad (I am getting 5-shot groups of <3/4" at 100yds.)
