its a decent powder for AR's, I haven't got the extreme accuracy out of it that I get with Varget or h335 but if you want a cheap powder for FMJ AR loads that you know are not going to have to be submoa then its a good powder,

It meters well and is easy to work with, I prefer a powder that you "can't" overcharge and BLC2 isn't it, I like to fill up my case so that if I make a mistake it's obvious and with most cases I think I can get 6-8 gr over max of BLC2 where I can't with most cases get an overcharge with Varget without it spilling

    x10,
    Thanks for the input.
What would you rate as THE powder to use with a powder throw (bullet choices not withstanding)?

I have centered all of my loads from 223, 308, on Varget. It performs very well, is stable, meters well, and I get very good groups with a variety of rifles.

I just aquired a 300 blackout but havne't settled on a load for it but you can bet I'll try varget first

I use both Varget, and BLC-2. Plinking rounds get loaded with BLC, and my bench rest .308 rounds get Varget. I have good luck with both.

I used to use a lot of BLC-2 in the .308 as well as the .223. It was handy for my 100 yard off hand practice ammo mostly because it was cheap and metered really easy. I never used it for anything at rifle distances, having tighter accuracy with 4895 and Varget.

If you are looking for a good ball powder that meters like water and does a good job filling the case, AA 2460 is pretty good. I tried 3 different bullet weights and used the load level that was right in the middle of the data, and had really good results.

I don't think Varget, while being a great powder for many rifle loads, is going to be what you want for 300 BLK. The 300 is designed to use a much faster powder than Varget. I've been using H110 or Accruate 1680 with great results.

I did some research on the 223/5.56 AR loads with 55FMJ projectiles. there are a lot of good powders out there, but this days and age, go for whatever is available and what you can afford. go for the bulk because you will never know if it's still available when you need a refill.

I haven't seen BL-C2 for couple years, also Ramshot TAC.

I have used BL-C2 for .223. I have used it in a few other rifle calibers too. Decent powder, works pretty good for me in my AR, but I fell into a large supply of Varget, and as such, use it for most all of my rifle loads right now.

Right now its pretty difficult to be picky about the powders you use. If .223 is what you are filling, and BL-c2 is what you have available, you have nothing to worry over, just do your research, and enjoy the reloading bench.

I've shot alot of BLC-2 on a dog town a couple of years ago. Works fine but you may have to play with it some.
I was shooting 55g V-max in a 1-9 Savage with AA2015 and it shot great. Ran out of the AA2015 and could not find any, but had tons of BLC-2, I ended up having to go to a 60g V-max to get anywhere near what the 2015 was doing.

Olin subsidiaries began manufacturing ball powder specification WC846 for .303 British ammunition during World War II. Hodgdon Powder Company salvaged 80 tons of WC846 propellant from disassembled .303 British military rifle cartridges in 1949 and sold the propellant to handloading civilians as BL type C. The C was to indicate the propellant burned "cooler" than traditional Improved Military Rifle (IMR) propellants. Olin continued manufacturing WC846 for both civilian ammunition and 7.62×51mm NATO cartridges[SUP][9][/SUP] after the war.

Hence the vast differences between loading data from old manuals and new ones.
