I know it's a bad time to start reloading something new, but...
Starting to reload .223. Looking for suggestions on a powder that I might find available for 55 gr bullets.
Also looking for suggested load data. Want a load for accuracy, not just stuff to go boom.

Yes, I do know powder is hard to come by.

Get a reloading manual. I think the new Lyman (50th edition) is around $25. Speer has much of their data online, PDF format, see https://www.speer.com/reloading/rifle-data.html .

    Hornady/Lee are good, too.

A very basic guide, but only $3 and an instant download from Western Powders here: https://www.westernpowders.com/reloading-guide-cat?product_id=161

I've got several manuals. The problem is finding powder. I'm looking for data in powder that might be available now.

About any powder from N133 to LeveRevolution on the burn rate chart can be made to work with .223. Generally speaking, you'll get better results using faster powders for lighter bullets and vice versa.

Hard to beat the staples of H335, R-15, N135, N140, Varget, 8208 XBR for a do-all powder in .223. And .308 and .30-06 for that matter.

I’ve loaded thousands with AA2230 and that powder has never let me down. I used it for 55 grain FMJBT as well as M193 62 grain penetrators and generally got the same velocities as military ammo. Definitely get a manual and follow the instructions to the “T.”

I dug around and found 4064 from my .308 days. I've got 1 1/4 pounds of it. Gonna give that a try, while I look for H 335 or 748, CFE 223.

It will be used in an 18" AR15

NOTE, Primer type can affect loading for the AR15 type rifles. And using magnum primers with double base ball powders is advisable. Read the link below, it is recommended to use primers with a cup thickness of .025 to help prevent slam fires. The greatest chance of a slam fire in the AR15 rifle is when a single round is loaded without the magazine in the rifle to slow down bolt velocity and firing pin inertia.

    G19G26,
In my PM's, I neglected to mention that the SRB-118 is a keg.

If you would, some feedback on how the IMR4064 works for you. That's one I just never tried except in 8x57 where it really worked out well.
