I remember the "good old days" when six bricks cost $30 total, or $5 per brick. Using the price of a WASR-10 as a gauge, they were $200 back then, and are about $500 to $600 now, so that $5 should be $15 with the same inflation rate. Oh well, so much for the good old days. :D

It does seem the current going rate for .22LR is $25 to $30 a brick of 500. I figure like others have said, many more people have gotten into the sport, and when other ammo started either going up of just getting hard to find, everyone said they would just start shooting .22LR because it was so much cheaper. Well the cheaper got more expensive, and more people means less going around, so it has become that proverbial needle in a haystack to find some.

I wonder what the MSRP (yes I know what suggested means :D ) per the factory for the CCI Blazer?

It's going to youth groups for $153.00 per case or $15.30 bucks a brick shipped.

Went to a boy scout campout last weekend where they got to shoot 22's. I jokingly asked one of the leaders where did he find 22, what with it being so rare these days and all. The MULTIPLE guys sitting around the camp fire looked at me like deer in a headlight...I explained that 22 has been scarce for over a year now with guys reporting constantly on where you might be able to find a single box. One of the leaders said he didn't have any in his stash but simply knew the shooting outing was coming up so he went to Walmart the weekend before and bought a couple bulk boxes!

I really don't think everyone involved in this outing realized how lucky they were that this happened. These outings get scheduled a year in advance, they had 94+ people camping and shooting this weekend, and they didn't have ammo for it until the weekend before. They are the most organized group (of any kind) that I've ever had the honor of being associated with but it is my opinion they really dodged the bullet on this one.

I was just at Walmart on Maysville in Fort Wayne and the clerk went back and found a 10 225 round boxes of Remington Golden. The guy and his wife who asked if he had any back there got 6, another fellow and I happened to be standing there and were going to split it up 2 each, but an older vet came by and he wanted two so we each dropped ours to 1 and let him have his 2. The box was opened and spoken for in roughly 45 seconds. They were somewhere ~ $10 a box. The stuff does show up but apparently if you aren't standing there when it does, you're not getting any.

another thing I notice is before the "Great 22LR shortage" most shooters prided themselves on shooting larger calibers.....when the "Gun run scare and ammo skyrocket" happened...not only have MANY NEW owners and enthusiasts entered the field, but how many of the previously "larger-than-22" shooters switch to 22LR to save money?:dunno:

I had a Remington 597 but ended up selling it since I couldn't find any .22lr ammo last year. This was the first ammo shortage I've been through as a firearms enthusiast. I won't make the mistake of buying ammo as I need it again.

You have figured out one of the biggest parts of enjoying the sport at your own leisure. As long as I can remember, my dad would buy 10 boxes of ammo if he intended to shoot 1 or 2. Thankfully its one of his habits that I picked up, and always try to buy a little more than I intend to shoot. Not only does this ensure that when you have time to spend shooting that you have ammo to shoot, but it will likely give you more time to shoot, and not waste that precious time searching the stores for the ammo that you want/need.

It's not your ignorance the grammar police are doing no good,

I was taught (teached for the grammer piloce) in grade school that every time you use a acronym the first time you use it you ("put in quotes") the words included
Except that this is a gun forum and those are pretty common acronyms around here. OGG (OldGuyGuns) asked and was answered quickly an politely. No problem!

Wow. So I catch GunBot with some 22lr @ 10c a shot (not fantastic, but what can you do....). Literally 1 minute after posting the link the stuff is gone. I added two boxes to my cart, tried to check out as a guest, and before I could enter my information it was gone. Do these @#$# people have computers running AI buying this stuff at the speed of light? I type 75+ wpm and had ZERO chance. "Sorry boys, looks like no shooting again. Dear old dad wasn't quite as fast as the speed of greed."

Gunbot has a bit of a lag, I have seen it in stock on different sites for as long as 30 minutes before it posted to gunbot. Then it was out shortly thereafter.

I bought a new 22 and the only way to get any ammo for it is getting up really early and hope Walmart got a shipment in. I hope eventually it will get back to normal.
