i was wondering , if the pro/semi pro people had any plans or could help design a knife grinder. thank you to anyone that can help*** btw cheap for meow.
cut 3 pieces of 1.75" square tubing to 12".
cut 2 pieces of 3/8" flat stock to about 18".
cut 2 pieces of 3/8" flat stock to 10".
drill a 7/16" hole on each piece of tubing, all the way through.
weld a 3/8" nut over each of these 4 holes.
weld the tubes and all flat stock together, as picture above, with the same sized flat stock on each end.
drill a .5" hole in the 18" rear uprights.
-leave space above this hole to install a eye bolts for the tension spring.
drill a ,25" hole for an eye bolt up and on the left.
cut another 1.75" tube for your tension arm.
Drill a .5" hole at the end. This will be to match the upright holes.
fab a handle to the other end.
find a heavy weld on hinge. Drill a 5/8" hole in one side. Weld a .5" nut to it.
weld this to the tension arm, leaving the I modified side to weld half way off the tension arm.
drill a 7/16" hole on the opposite side of the tension arm, on the lower third of the arm, directly behind the tracking wheel plate
cut two pieces of 1.5 angle and weld to the bottom of the frame to mount to the bench.
Install tension arm to frame.
install tension spring to eye bolt.
paint
install knobs
use 1.5" square tube for tool arms.
bolt motor directly to bench.
install tracking wheel.
get it all as square as possible!
