There is a military installation in upstate NY that because of the fencing, inadvertantly created a small herd of white deer. I know that some first peoples tribes are pretty serious about not killing such creatures.
Olney Ill has a big white squirrel fest every year. Those squirrels are apparently protected. I saw a white squirrel poster that said in Olney all the squirrel's had to fear were stubborn grass stains.
