So ultamatly since all the ban stuff is happeing there has been a mad rush on lowers. I have been wanting to make a 308 however the lowers are back ordered for almost a year. So what does everyone think about the .300 BLK or can anyone recomend a good ranged round with a long flat trajectory and maybe just an all around good round that fits in a 5.56 lower, or is the 5.56 round the best.

    Thank you!

The .308 nor the .300 BLK are flat shooting rounds.

For up to 600 meters and possibly a bit longer, the 5.56 will serve you well as long as you know what you're doing. While Travis Haley has shot a .300 BLK out to 750 meters, it doesn't mean everyone is cut out for that kind of shot with that round.

the 300 blackout has VERY similar drop rates to the 7.62x39. If you want a general rule of drop follow that. The 300 blackout does drop slightly more than the AK round but for what we are talking about its a good "close enough" comparison.

Thanks for the advice.. I know the 300blk is ultimately 7.62x35 I will prob just use the x39 charts for learning the round until I can draw out my own. I think I may have to go a head and set that upper since I don't have to get new magazines (damn ban) so it mite just be a good investment

Have you considered a wssm round? DTECH out of norther Minnesota is the place I would look. He not cheap or real fast but he does build a real nice accurate rifle.

i just need to order a flash suppressor for my 300blk build and i'll finally be done. i can't wait to break it in. i ended up ordering my barrel from sotaarms.com for $150 shipped couldn't pass it up for that price. received the barrel in about a week. i ended up building the 5.56 and 300blk at the same time using the same lower, and love the fact that it's pretty much just a barrel change.
