I am very glad to hear about the lack of trimming for the .38 brass. That sounds horrible. It sounded believable however when combined with the roll crimp, but the last thing I wanted to start doing was trimming any pistol brass.

It sort of sounds like I can't go wrong with any of the common .38 powders, Bullseye, Unique or HP-38, and a lot of votes for Titegroup as well. I'll probably start with BE and HP-38 loads. I also ordered some SWCs from Bayou.

This should be a piece of cake. Thanks for all of the advice.

I am using TG with 158 gr. Berry's for plinking loads. Because I am not using hot loads, I just use a taper crimp. Haven't had any issues in my wife's Charter Arms or my Smith Model 60. I think one reason people don't like TG for .38s is b/c the low case volume. It would be very easy to double charge if not careful.

Dang, thanks for the tip about the .357 mag shell. I'll try to sort any range brass before adding to the barrel. My own brass is pretty easy to keep with a revolver obviously, so I know that will be all .38 spl unless I purposely try to punk a "friend" by sneaking in some .357 mag loads in on him! Sounds like fun already!!!
