Down here on the outskirts of wireless civilization, 3G coverage is slow to spread. However I've recently noticed the 3G icon on my iPhone shows up every now and then but doesn't "stick". I can go to settings, turn the 3G switch off and then back on to get it back, but again, it won't stick.

Question: is there a setting I can't readily find to set the phone to default to the 3G tower/signal even if it's not the strongest one available?

    Thanks!

No you are kind of stuck with what you have. You can or at least could (until iOS5) turn off G to stay on Edge and help battery life but that's no longer an option. The phone will kind of hunt for the stronger or more reliable signal.

Yes there's a way u can do that but u would have to be jailbroken. There's a few apps u can download then to edit the phones registry (filesystem) and force it to stay on 3G, but chances are if it doesn't stay on 3G now it's gonna lose signal and be slow anyway....:dunno:
