    My exact combo....

This has been getting most of my carry time this summer. I know that this particular gun is what drives a lot of guys to 9mm but it’s really a nice shooter. If you shoot a mid size 9mm, then pick up the G27, it will feel snappy. But, shoot the G27 first and it will not feel snappy at all.

This is what’s on the hip tonight though

I've got a 27 and 22. With a full size mag and grip sleeve I can shoot the 27 decently. From SD ranges I can put all the shots within the kill zone within a reasonable time; I'm typically in the middle of the pack of guys shooting 9. From 25 yards taking my time I can do the same.

Is it better than a 9 given increased damage over increased felt recoil (is a.380 or even 22lr)? Let youtube scientists decide.

The 27 was the first hangun I ever really practiced with, and I just learned to handle it. Shoot what you got. Whether it's a 380, 9, 40, 45, etc.

    Between SB and FT.W
I only have one (XDM 3.8)

Good capacity, controllable, I load 155grn Gold Dots to around 1200fps. Good expansion, much more oomph than a nine, with similiar capacity and not much more recoil (than a +p 9 )
Its my nightstand HD with a rail light.

I've NEVER understood this talk about a .40SW being so snappy.
It never seemed unmanageable to me.

    Back in the early 80's I started out carrying a S&W Model 19 4" .357 magnum.
I went to carrying .40SW for some years, as well as .45ACP.

I've in recent years settled in on the .357 Sig round, and have several pistols that I switched from .40SW to .357 Sig. by doing the barrel swap.
I really like the Underwood .357 Sig round in
125 Grain Bonded Jacketed Hollow Point
    1475 fps, 604 ft lbs

I NEVER even owned a 9mm for carry until a few years ago when I bought a 9mm S&W Shield for pocket carry, and more recently a Sig P365.

I think that the snappy feel comes from when someone shoots their 9mm a bunch and then a friend asks if they want to shoot their G23/G27 or other poly .40. If you shoot a soft 9 a bunch, then shoot a light .40, it can feel snappy. Even then, it’s not so much snappy as just a bit more stout.

If you start by shooting your .40s, then later switch to a 9mm, you don’t feel any snappiness at all. Even when shooting a G27.

I have a full size CZ SP01 Tactical in .40 that really doesn’t feel any different to me than the 9mm does, but I’m guessing that if I shoot them in quick succession with each other, I could tell a difference.

My first pistol ever was a .40 given to me by my FIL. S&W SD40. I got rid of it shortly after I discovered a Glock 19. I have not had a .40 since. Never will. Seems to me like .40 is an answer to a question that should never have been asked.

Yes to this. I gave it a good try 3 different times. The 40 is a solution looking for a problem. To each their own but for me it will always be on my list of Death Merchant Marketeers that create and fill the need of shooters reading too much pulp fiction.

My wife prefers her 40 and she's 4'10".

The important thing is it hits what you're aiming at. And she has the most time on it.

Maybe the key to loving the .40 is commitment. To dabble in .40 is to not see the beauty of the round. Jump in with both feet, reload .40 and shoot mostly .40 and you can’t help but to love it.

I ordered a S&W 4006 TSW CHP pistol in .40 last night. I'll post pics when it comes in

I have never had a .40 caliber, but last night I pursued a SW 4006 myself, since it had adjustable rear sights.
I want a 3rd gen SW with adjustable rear sights.
Waiting to hear word today on whether it is already sold.

Maybe for others. First time 2 yrs, second time 4 years, final time 2 years. Over 25,000 rounds total with 6 different guns.
accuracy at first, anemic for the effort second, clutter in Arsenal last straw. For me the round gets in my way for any benefit. Just not worth it to me.

The .40 out performs both 9mm and 45acp.
My EDC right now is an HK VP40 LE. Great pistol, yes it is a full size pistol. More of an "under the seat" gun in my car and my "night stand" pistol.

Interesting video on the topic of performance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=77ct95sfRMo

I am a big fan of .40 but I don’t know that I believe it outperforms most .45. If you calculate the volume of area that a bullet physically passes through, a .40 comes close to a .45 but does not beat it. There are some 9mm that come close to a .40, but again, they don’t beat it. Some 9mm does not even come close to a .40 but then again, there are some .40 loads that don’t approach the physical space that a 230g standard pressure HST passes through.

Picked up a SW 4006 .40 caliber this evening: my first .40 caliber.
Nice and heavy Smith 3rd generation, smooth D/A trigger pull with a short reset.
Can't wait to try out the rear adjustable sights.
Pics later, hopefully I'll get to the range tomorrow.
I was reminded I have fired 2 other member's .40 calibers, both members I have bought guns from, and Ggreen sold me my first CZ last summer.
