Thanks to Dmitry (Raspootyn) I have filled another hole in my collection. He recently offered some re-snipered Mosin's for sale
and the 42 Ex-PEM caught my eye. I have had an Igor base & mount as well as an early Ukrainian Repro PEM scope waiting for just such a build, and with all the hard work done it was a no brainer to snatch it up. I finally got around to getting the Igor set-up mounted and am quite pleased with the results so far. All that is left is getting it to the Range for some sighting in.

Very nice. I don't know that much about snipers, what does PEM mean?

When the Russians where developing there sniper program there 1st major design had a Scope called the PE, which in Russian stood for , "unified model", and it had an adjustable focus. Latter it was simplified with a non-adjustable focus and was referred to as the PEM, , "unified model-modernized"

Here is a site full of Russian sniper info written by one of the foremost authorities in the field, "Vic"Thomas.
