    I have a stainless guide gun and it does not kick nearly as much as I thought it would. I would compare recoil to a .308 rifle. I like the gun because it is short and handy. Fairly light to carry, also. Last time I read the book, that round is not legal to hunt deer in Indiana. It may be legal to hunt squirrels with, though...Go figure...John

    If you reload for the 45/70 you can make it kick as hard as you like. You can start with 300 gr lead bullets and work up to 500 gr. For plinking loads I use 300 gr lead bullets with 15 grs of Trail Boss. The case is to long to use in a rifle for deer hunting in IN.
