I recently inherited about 800 pcs. of 45LC brass with the headstamp "Top Brass Blank". These were used with black powder to shoot balloons in a mounted shooting club I was involved with. Since the club has folded and my shooting horse is getting too old to ride that hard I am considering joining the local SASS club. My question is this; can this brass be used with lead projectiles? The only visible difference I can see is the flash hole is a little larger. I have no way to measure the wall thickness.

I would say no if they have over-sized flash holes.

Thanks for the information. The Firing Line link was very helpful. I'll check a few but I'm almost positive they will measure too large. Maybe I'll find another mounted shooting club to donate them to.

Hay, save a few+use them with homemade wax bullets. They are fun to shoot inside or out.

Just get some wax slabs (usually about 2"X4"X3/8"-3-4 to a box), sharpen up a 'Junk'-Split case with a de-burr tool+ and cut yourself out some "Bullets" out of wax. Install them in your 'Over-drilled' primer pocket cases+prime as usual.==DO NOT install ANY powder!!!..

It is WISE to also mark the headstamp with a bright color sharpie, so they do NOT get mixed in with your regular brass..

    They are FUN to shoot..Bill.
