    Had one go out in my 79 jeep cj-7. Came around a corner and BAM! Trail of oil down the road and a hole blown in the case about the size of a silver dollar. It was a quadratrac with a 304. Took weeks to find a bone yard replacement.
    reminds me of watching a semi grenade a manual transmission right in front of me pulling away from a stoplight, quite impressive i must say!

    I went through two repairs on a 1996 Sierra with the electronic shift transfer case. There was some crappy plastic fork inside that does not last long. No shrapnel, but nasty sounds ...

    My previous 1991 Sierra still had the manual floor shift for the transfer case. It was still rock solid at 270,000 miles.
