The more I see prices like this the more I think I'm probably better NOT getting a 5.56 barrel for my AR (at present), and going the reload route for 6.8, 6.5, or 300 AAC...

Of course, that means I'll have to spend money on reloading equipment. Which will probably mean at least a weekend away from the kids for the boss.

Before everyone crys down with bradis, we dont know what the ammo is. A good bit of 223 ammo is always 1 dollar a round.

I would still expect to see alot of local prices go up. If Bradis's or other shops destributers raise their prices then they have to raise your prices.

That is higher than Gunbroker insanity (~700-800/1k) for M855. If it is one of the bonded or other hunting/precision rounds then that is about right. Gander Mountain had some 55g Federal .223 for $50/100 a couple of days ago. They are out now though...

Well, in all fairness they never had great ammo prices.

But I'm willing to listen to what this particular 5.56 stuff is. It might be in the realm of reasonable if it is super quality or something.

I believe the ammo in question was Winchester or Federal. We got 2 cases in this morning, but it is all gone now. We knew the price was high when we ordered it, but it was about all that was available.

    I saw a 5 boxes of Hornady .223 ($19/20), and 1 boxes of .300 whisper ($23/20)

Seems that the high end ammo are almost the same as the low end right now when in stock.

500 empty cases and a pile o' components. I'm not even sure how many I could load, to tell you the truth, but I dang sure ain't paying a buck a round just to hear the steel sing.
