    1. .22LR - Rifle and or pistol - Ruger 10/22 and Colt Cadet Handgun

    2. Shotgun - Mossberg 9200 Olympic and Ultra Chinese Pump

    3. Lg Caliber Centerfire Pistol - 9mm, .40, .45

    4. Back up gun or pocket pistol - J-Frame

    5. AR-15 or AK-47 - How about SKS? (I think this category should just be Centerfire Rifle, which could pick up all sorts of stuff..)

I think this subject is best broached using generalities because everyone's needs are different.

    1. Some sort large caliber like a 1911 or S&W 357 or Taurus Judge for home defense
    2. Medium sized concealed carry gun like a Glock 26, 27, XD or a something similar.
    3. Small backup gun for ankle or somewhere else like an LCR/LC9/LCP/Kel-Tec.
    4. Shotgun for WROL situation or for hunting
    5. Rifle of some sort.

If I could add a 6th I would say it should be a sweet handgun that is considered a Safe Queen to show your buddies. Some guns are just for fun but are redundant.

Sort of how I look at it, too. The OP describes a very basic "golf bag" that is missing a driver.

(Side note: I use the "golf club" analogy to explain to my wife why I need so many guns. "Just like you use different clubs for different shots..." Even though she doesn't golf, it's a really easy concept to grasp, and it's even gotten to where she has once asked "Do we have a gun that would be good for _______?" Awesome.)

That's a good analogy, wish I had thought of it!

    1) AR---It is based on the current platform OUR military uses.
    2) 9mm hi-cap handgun---Again, this is the current caliber OUR military uses for handguns.
    3) 12ga pump shotgun---Versatile weapon.
    4) .22lr pistol or rifle---Doesn't matter which, both are good for taking small game.
    5) This is a toss up, IMHO. 1911 in 45acp or a revolver in .357mag.

It is a pretty good list, and a pretty good post subject. Gets you to thinking. I almost had all 5 bases covered before that tragic snowmobile falling through the ice incident yesterday out on Reiden lake.

I 100% agree with having a high power long range gun. so maybe it should be 6 guns every gun owner should have in there collection. So i'll add My Mosin Nagant m91/30, 1934 Hex receiver all matching serial numbers , Izhevsk Arsenal markings w/ no second date just 1934

I tend to keep a small collection. I don't have a ton of extra cash to spend on firearms, but I want to own quality stuff. I also tend to buy and sell when I can replace a gun with something that I like more or that fills a need better.

Here's my list so far with intended uses:

    HD/EDC/Range shooting - M&P9c
    Steel plates/cardboard and general badassery - CZ85 Combat 9mm
Steel groundhogs/loose change and general badassery - Savage 10 PC .308
Flying clay and general badassery - Rem 870

For #5, I wouldn't mind adding an SBR AR in 300 AAC. :D
