So I have a stripped A2 upper receiver that came off a High Standard AR chambered in .223/5.56. I am thinking about building a pistol with that stripped upper but was wondering if a 7.62 barrel will fit it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks:dunno:

It probably won't work because it will not be big enough. Even if it would the other problem will be the ejection port will not be big enough.

Not enough information. To answer your question - certainly you can put a 7.62 (30 caliber) barrel on the stripped upper. Will it function - depends on what cartridge you intend to use. The list of 30 caliber cartridges would darn near fill a full page. Obviously you can't use a cartridge longer than the ejection port or the stroke of your bolt. 300 blackout will work with a standard 5.56 bolt as is constructed using cut down 5.56 brass. Many other cartridges will function in the upper, but may require different bolts and/or special magazines in the lower.
