Has anyone found a good supplier for brass for 7.62x54R? I am even finding it tough to find reloaded shells for this gun. I saw some at Cabella's, but they are over double the price of surplus shot.

OP why are you reloading for this caliber? Is it not cheaper to buy the surplus ammo on the market right now then reload for this caliber? :dunno:

BTW Graff n Sons does have brass for thsi caliber.

I always pick up some Privi or Wolf at a gun show and reload that after the first firing, but I only use brass cartridges with my SVT40 and my other "nice" Mosins (Finn M28, M27, 1907 dragoon).:patriot:

I reload for the 7.62x54R and to answer your question: Yes AND no! ;)

If all you want is FMJ plinking ammo, that may or may not use corrosive primers, then yes, the surplus crap will shoot and meet your needs.

If you want better accuracy and a bullet you can hunt big game with, reloading is always less expensive than quality hunting ammo.

There are situations where factory ammo makes more sense than reloading, but aside from rimfire stuff, they are few and far between. :ingo:
