We return to MORNING Matches this Month!

Marion County Fish and Game's Bowling Pin Match will be this Saturday, April 28th at 9 AM. Setup will begin at 8:15 AM and we would appreciate the help of a few volunteers. The Safety Meeting (required for new shooters) will be at 8:45 AM to explain the rules. At 9:00 AM, we will begin shooting.

The cost is $3 per bracket for club members and $4 per bracket for non-members. All money goes toward the club and/or making the competition better. Youth (under the age of 18) shoot free with a paid adult.

Bowling Pin Shooting is conducted under a COLD RANGE. That means all guns must be holstered (or bagged) at all times, unloaded, hammer down, with no magazine inserted. You may only handle your gun at the direction of a range officer (RO), or at the designated "safe table". Violation of this or any other safety rules shall result in a match disqualification.

If you have any questions about the match, please read the rules posted at: MCFG - Indy Range Official Website - Shotgun, Pistol, Shooting Range (look under "Programs and Events" > "Bowling Pins") If you are unable to find an answer posted in the rule, please feel free to email me. Be advised the start times listed in the rules are out of date.

If you are interested in shooting Pin Heads, bring your .22 LR's (pistol or rifle). Also remember you can shoot your BUGs (Backup Guns). The class is limited to .38SPL snub nose revolvers and .380’s pocket pistols loaded with 5 rounds. 3 pins are set on the table at the minor position and the pins must leave the table just like regular brackets. The challenge is both in the shooting and the reloading of your weapon.

If you are willing to help as an RO or help keep score, that would be greatly appreciated.

If you would like to receive e-mail remiders about matches or notifications about changes or cancellations, please send me an e-mail and I will add you to my list.

Hope to see you on Saturday.

To clarify, If I shoot a PCR with an optic I will have 7 pins and 8 rounds loaded in the mag?

    You are correct.

For those who don't know... everyone shooting a pistol with iron sights will have to clear 5 pins from the table. If you add an optical sight, we try to "level the playing field" by adding one pin to the table. If you shoot a PCR (pistol caliber rifle) that also is something that we add a pin to the table for. So someone shooting a PCR with an optic gets 2 pins added making a total of 7.

It's looking like we have a good chance for rain.

If it is raining hard and/or there is a chance of lighting, we'll have to cancel the match. I will post in this thread on Saturday morning by 7:45am if that is the decision. I will also send out an e-mail to everyone that is on my list who gets monthly match reminders.

If it is raining, but not too hard, we will shoot either steel plates or plate racks from under the covered firing line. (Be advised to bring your best ear protection as it gets really loud when we shoot from there.)

If you want to be on the e-mail reminder/cancellation list, send an e-mail to BowlingPinShooting@gmail.com

Once upon a time the matches started at 8am year-round. If we started any later now, I'm pretty sure we'd have a hard time getting a second bracket completed as I'm guessing all of the RO's would be packing up and heading to El Rodeo for lunch around 11:30. :):

Hope you get to feeling better.

Another great Saturday Bowling Pin shoot! It rained like cats and dogs, but we shot under cover and the rain didn't really make an impact, other than we shot bowling pin plates versus the real thing. Thanks to the volunteers for running the match!
