Yes, but there was an aftermarket wipeless cap available. Works well, I've had good results since the 80s.

Thats the can my brother has, I believe he never upgraded it.

It could be done buy a long ago shop in Anderson. I cant think of there name, the owner was a huge Colt 1911 guy. They were up off the bypass near 38th st?
I was told it was hit or miss with doing it. One might end up buying a new bolt.

Awesome, we swapped a few US Government pistols back and fourth. He was an interesting guy.
