Another vote for the nano. I really really really really really wanted the shield, but the nano fit in my hand just as well. AND it was available at a good price.

I've got a Solo. It's finicky on ammo. Doesn't like steel cased ammo. 124gr or heavier. Otherwise, runs good. I also have a New Agent 9mm. It runs like a freight train! Either choice is a little salty, but good choices.

For nice compact size , good feel and reliability cannot beat Sig 232. Also very accurate. At close range 380 is very effective round

The Kahr PM9/CM9, S&W Shield, or Wather PPS are all solid options IMO. I have not got a chance to try the Beretta Nano yet.
