My wife and I are planning for a day/night stop over in Memphis in early November. Never been anywhere near there. Need suggestions on some fun things to do. Food, historic sites, attractions ...
What would you do if you had a day to spend there?

Had to spend several days there several times for my job years ago. There are several great barbecue places (think one of the best was named Porky’s, oddly enough). Also Graceland is there. It’s also not far from some casinos just over in Mississippi, I believe.

Did you go to Graceland? My wife is like meh, but it could be interesting.

I would do a lot of research on the area you will be staying and what parts of town to avoid. Parts of Memphis are as bad as Chicago.
I am actively doing both. Just hoping to do a little research here also. Never know which out of the way spot someone might have been to along with any additional tips. Searching for areas to avoid is one of those good tips!

Agree, got into a couple iffy spots down there. No never went to Graceland, but drove by a few times. I was working so mainly out and about in the evening.

Yeah I would stay at a Casino and not venture out after dark.
Memphis is a town where you need to be anything.

Do not go to West Memphis that is a no go zone.

Found a cute little vrbo across the street from Overton Park. They say its safe and has good reviews and priced reasonably.
