Survived another annual March Madness Vegas trip. Its the busiest time of year in Vegas and the Strip is overwhelming at times. Slowly venturing out to new places every year and thought I'd share a few:

    1. Clark County Shooting Complex- 5 star gun lovers oasis in the desert with mountains as you backdrop and elevated views of the strip. 7$ for a round of 25 clays, they have Archery, trap, skeet, "trap golf" (yes with golf carts and everything), and a rifle range up to 50 cal. Shot at some sporting clays but didnt hit many. I'd probably hit more with a rifle.

    2. Green Valley Ranch- Casino/Hotel in Henderson with a lot less people than the strip, has everything you need without the wait or the price. They had me at 1$ beers 1$ hot dogs

    3. Hot and Juicy Crawfish- Messiest meal ever, but a tasty experience. They serve whatever shellfish you order by the pound in a plastic bag marinating in your selected cajon spices. You add ears of corn or potatos to the marinade and throw the shells wherever. Pound of shrimp and pound of crab was plenty.

Its taken me 14 years to really start exploring whats outside he strip, give me some ideas so I can start planning for next year.

We went a couple of years ago. We took a helicopter ride that landed in the Grand Canyon, took a tour of the Hoover Dam, saw the Pawn Stars pawn shop... if you watch the show then go, but it's a hole in the wall place.

We were only there for 3 days so we didn't venture to far out. I can't wait to go back!

Clark county museum, Hoover Dam, Red Rocks national park, a drive through the desert, the Atomic museum just off the strip, the little town of Blue Diamond. A few of the things we've done while there.

+1 for the Red Rock Nature Conservancy. If you've got a car or are renting one, I would highly recommend taking the scenic drive deal they have through the park, I believe it was $7 and about the best thing we did in Vegas. Really neat scenery and wildlife, plus they have several pull offs where you can park the car and hike around or climb the rocks if you're so inclined. The town of Blue Diamond is right next to it, so you could catch that too. The coke store on the strip was pretty neat as well, for another $7 you get to try 15-20 different coke products from around the world, which are not available in the U.S.

I went for spring break this year, the strip is fun but expensive and in my opinion gets old after a few days if you're not a big gambler. I found it ironic that the two best experiences of the trip (Red Rock and the Coke store), were also the cheapest.
