I'm fairly new to knifes and i'm gettin to the point where they NEED sharpened...lol. My question is, whats my fellow INGOers opinion on a good and easy setup for sharpening knifes.
spyderco sharpmaker,it'll turn a butter knife, into a razor blade in no time!.plus it has two sets of angles, one for hunting/pocket knives and one for kitchen knives. it'll sharpen just about anything(straight edge, serrated edge, fish hooks, darts)
about 50.00 on amazon, with a storage case/rod holder, 2 sets of triangle rods(two course, and two fine), and a dvd to show you how to use it
the next thing you'll buy are the ultra fine rods, they are about 25.00 each, then your friends will ask you to sharpen their knives!
You can also look at the Lansky kit. I have had one for 25 years and it will put the right edge on for the knife. It has 3 or 4 angle settings for each type of knife blade.
I've got a bunch of sticks and stones but I've practically given them all up for this inexpensive little Snap-On Tools sharpener that I picked up at Rural King. Wow, I did just use "inexpensive" and "Snap-On Tools" in the same sentence. Anyway, this is fool proof. Snap-On 5120 Carbide Knife Sharpener - Amazon.com
