So I was in the parking garage leaving Casino Aztar today (before you ask, it was locked in the car) when I was rear ended. Anyone who has ever entered that parking garage knows the entrance/exit lanes are WAY too small for a 6 level parking garage, and no place to stop to exchange information. with several cars behind both of us, noone hurt, and little if any damage, I decided to try to point out to the senior citizen behind me to meet me in the flat parking lot across the street. Lo and behold, as soon as she gets the chance to get around me, granny bolts! Yes that's right, an 82 year old involved in a hit and run.

I followed in hot pursuit of the Buick at speeds approaching 20mph in a 25 mph zone, until I wrote the plate number and the 911 operator told me that was all they needed and to stop following her.

ANYWAYS... I met a couple Evansville police department officers nearby. While waiting, I gathered up my relevant documents (insurance, drivers license, registration) and was thinking of what else they needed.

As far as I know, there is no law in Indiana requiring me to inform the officer (IANAL) but the LAST thing I want is for him to notice I have a pistol BEFORE I inform him. His total response to my informing him of my possession of a handgun, and a LTCH, amounted to

    "That's fine."

    :yesway:

Whole process was quick and easy, just the way I like 'em ;)

This is better than the last couple times I've been pulled over. The first time, I decided to keep my LTCH and my Glock to myself, until the LEO asked me if I had any weapons. I honestly said I did and that I was licensed. He just sighed and said he had to call another car. I had to eventually get out of the car, be disarmed, and otherwise chill until they decided I was legit. Looking like a criminal on 38th Street FTW!

The second time, I thought maybe it would go easier if I showed my LTCH with my license. Apparently that wasn't any better. Again, I waited for another car to show up, this time with the sergeant. I was again disarmed, etc. I got a short, half-hearted lecture against carrying with a round in the chamber from the sergeant. Then they let me go again.

In both incidents, the LEOs were very polite. It seemed more like they didn't really want to have to go through all that. But still, I don't like looking like a criminal in plain view.

How are we supposed to carry with one in the pipe if our only bullet is in our shirt pocket??? :ar15:

    LMAO. yeah true. i forgot.

im all for cops having AR-15's and such, but im against ANY cop (even SWAT) from having full auto weapons. i dont like how the govt, uses police to skirt posse comotatus (spelling i know). starting to become no difference between police and the gov. feds. thats not the way its supposed to be.

my point is that cops dont need to be armed like the Army. if they are then esentialy they have become an unregulated army. if the police need to go full auto then they need to call in the feds. police arent soldiers

We aren't armed like the Army. We don't have tanks, humvees, mortars, SAWs, bazookas, etc. A SWAT team has nowhere near the armament that a squad of soldiers would have. By your reasoning non-LEO/non-military citizens shouldn't have the ability to own full-auto weapons either. After all, they are even less regulated than the police are, and they might stage a coup or something will their machine guns.
