This...because humans are drawn towards darkness of all sorts and on many different levels. The subject matter will likely not be what determines if people choose not to watch it. It will likely be how much skin they show and the production "quality" and how interesting they can otherwise make it.

i can't remember which comedian's bit this is, but he told the story of being an attendant at a full-serve gas station, and one of his coworkers was an out of work porn guy. apparently he was a hard worker, but every time he pumped gas, right before the tank was full, he'd pull out the nozzle and spray gas all over the windshield.
