DP290 is an intensive look into the manipulation of your defensive pistol using one hand. Both strong side and support side manipulations will be explored. Shooting, of course, but also reloading, malfunction reduction, use of the back up pistol, arrangement of equipment on belt or body and more is on the agenda. This is an advanced level course and requires prior training and consent of ACT staff to attend. Safety is paramount.

Gear required is the same as any defensive pistol course. Ammunition required is up to the shooter, but we do suggest a minimum of 250 rounds. Most taking this course have shot considerably less and we do understand the current ammo situation.

I attended this class a few months ago and if I didn't have to work I would take it again.
It's good stuff and it definitely made me rethink some of things I was doing.

This is one of my favorite classes to teach. We work on skills that most people have never tried. Most who have tried them rarely practice them (I definitely don't practice them enough!).

We often learn a lot about our personal plans and how our gear fits into in this class. Those who never considered carrying a second gun will see why it's a really, really good idea.

It's surprising how often people injure their dominant hand in their everyday lives. Knowing ahead of time how to accommodate such injuries when you have time prepare can be as useful as knowing how to use your non-dominant hand when injured during a tense social situation that requires rapid and decisive resolution.
