Just heard on the Broward County police scanner that the shooter has been apprehended, a Nicholas Cruz... not sure of the spelling.

According to the scanner, he had been watching You Tube videos on how to make bombs, and there have been suspicious bags found around the school.

We need to bring back institutions for the mentally ill. Stop throwing pills at the problems and allowing them to self medicate.

The problem with that, is how do you determine who to imprison, if they're just "off," but haven't yet committed a crime? Because, let's be honest, these people would be imprisoned.

Mental health, encourage strong nuclear families, opportunities (rather than handouts), stigmatize drug and alcohol abuse (since criminalizing it has failed miserably), bring back the trades.

I didn't say that it would be easy. You're absolutely right, they would be committed, some wrongfully so. Most if not all of these shooters give warning signs of some sort. Take away the self medicating part and force medicating may be a way to avoid institutions.
