adding rails to a shotgun forend

I have this forend for a Mossberg 500:

I am thinking about drilling holes in the bottom to bolt on a polymer rail like the ones Magpul sells for the MOE rifle forends. I was wondering if anyone has tried this or how you think it will work.

hey JT, I have the same forend for an 870, and my advice would be, dont attach the light to the forend.

It... rarely works out well.

My advice would be attaching it to the mag tube, just in front of the forearm so it can be activated by your weak hand thumb when the foreend is in its extended position.

This is the setup I use and it works ... as well as you can expect a flashlight to work.

Thanks Dom1104, I was actually thinking more for an AFG on the forend then for a light, but thanks for the heads up on the light.

Edit: where did you get that clamp at? If I may ask.
