I just picked up a used Remington 597 Stainless w/ Scope (forget the exact model number). The only issue I have with it is there are no sights, just the scope. How difficult/costly would it be to add some so the gun is a little more versitile?

I've thought about taking a 597 and mounting the tech-sights that are meant for a Marlin 60. the rear sight would go right on the integral scope rail, and a hole would have to be drilled & tapped for the front sight base. if I could determine how to place that hole in the right place, I would probably have a 597 with Tech-sights to show you.

Larry Potterfield of MidwayUSA has a video on youtube, demonstrating the use of a dovetailing jig they sell, but i'm not going to go that far.
