I realize you stipulated that you absolutely don't want pure lead bullets.

But I must point out, that coated lead bullet technology will offer you the best bang for your buck with out the messy lead nastiness. And, are just as clean as FMJ,TMJ or plated, while being cheaper and offering virtually zero wear on your barrel.

Look into SnS Casting or Bayou Bullets.

You were one of those kids that did not follow instructions in school hu? ;)
It could be that he like me
    - has not had any experience with lead bullets
    - does not want to touch a lead bullet
    - afraid that he will crush the bullet during reloading since it's not as easy for a beginner as a FMJ one
    - may NOT be allowed to use lead at the range (indoor) he goes to.

I find rules to be merely loose suggestions.
1)Bullets are bullets, and coated lead bullets require no special treatment.
2)Your not touching lead, THERE COATED!
    3)See #1.
4)Well, thats just silly, as a proper indoor shooting range should have proper ventilation and filtration. Also, coated bullets are completely coated, where as, some FMJ's have exposed lead bases.

I'm the OP and welcome suggestions (even the coated lead like Blackbullets or Bayoubullets)
It was primarily to avoid the extra smoke, leading, and handling lead in our small townhouse. Encapsulated lead is still a viable option for me
    Thanks.

Got a link for these lead coated bullets.
Could it be used for .223 and. .30 carbine

I have only seen the pistol bullets that are coated, that are commercially made.

However, I have seen some folks online coat their own bullets for 300BLK.

Just google Bayou Bullets and SNS Casting for the pistol bullets.

Midway has a really good discount coupon code (APR4514) right now for orders over $225 (it's a $45.00 off coupon). Their 2K pack of the Remington 9mm FMJ 115's sells for $229.00 so it qualifies. Best deal they have had in quite some time and they have stock on hand.

I've been using those bullets and they have performed very well, the only caveat is they are a little on the long side so adjust seating depth and charge accordingly if you're used to something shorter.

Load data for them on page 52 here: MidwayUsa LoadMap 9mm
