I didn't see any but probably not doing a good search. I am looking for an inexpensive but reliable load setup of 7.62x39 for an AK. I just got started relaoding any a friend would like to reload some AK ammo when I am not using the press. Can someone point me to a standard setup please?

Reloading 7.62x39 can be done, but some people did not recommend it, due to cost issues and the availability of surplus. Given our current condition that might just change since ammo prices (surplus) have gone up. Then again you will need to find primers, powder, bullets and brass which might not be easy or inexpensive. Some people have reloaded steel cases but I dont know much about that, though I do know it has been done.

With that said any of the presses out there will be able to load for it, as long as you have the correct dies and ingredients. Its just a matter of finding one you like with the price you can live with. Then going out and finding the materials needed to load them up.

But personally, I think getting into reloading now is not the best idea. I would wait out the "panic" and dive head first in after it has passed. :twocents: The person that could really help with this would be Aszerigan, just PM him or hit of Profile Arms & Supply in Indy.

Thanks. My friend already bought the dies in anticipation of me getting the press and the price of ammo he has seen lately. He hasn't gotten any bullets or primers yet. Don't know if that is because he is waiting to try to get it all at once or just not as excited.

The next time I stop by ProFire I will see if he has any suggestions.
