50 or 60 years ago, if you spoke Farsi, not a bad offer....but then again 50 or 60 years ago, Iranians weren't chanting "death to America" either. I have 2 friends whose families fled Iran at the time of the fundamentalist "revolution". One was a child, the other a teenager...and Jewish. They have interesting things to say about Iran under the Shah. The Shah wasn't great, but Iran was much, much better.

And all this could be solved with one person. No violence, no water cannons, no one getting dressed in riot gear. Heck, it could even be done remotely. Shut down the cell towers. Guarantee this kids would loose their minds and disperse quickly.

Unfortunately that would also take down a geographic area and 911 service for real emergencies across it. A better solution allowing for emergency and essential services is taking down the cell service for everything except voice phone calls and 911.

If you want to cut off data services, just ask ATT how they do it. There is an area in Plainfield around the Target/Perry Commons Mall that is an absolute data black hole. Plenty of bars and great voice service. But data service just doesnt exist there. Its weird.
