.22LR, that is, if you can even find any that your gun likes that also doesn't cost more than centerfire ammo.
As long as you have enough powder, bullets, and primers (assuming you already have brass), you can roll your own of all that you want of the other two.

If one hasn't started yet, they should now. I think I would do something along the lines of 1000 5.56 this pay, 100 45 ACP next pay, 500 22LR next pay, and then start the cycle over again until I had what I thought was an adequate amount.

I also agree with RMC, so maybe buy a bulk pack of TP every other pay.

Do the Walmarts in Indiana have the Perfecta on roll back? Here you can get brass 9mm for less than $10.00 45acp $15.00 and 223 $14.97 for 50. So I have been stocking up.

I default to the rifle. Entire generations of people survived with a rifle that did not even own a pistol. Of course it is great to have a full complement of tools, but a rifle is seldom the wrong answer.

It's easy to buy at least one box of ammo per week. Buying just one 50 round box per week leaves you with 2,600 rounds at the end of the year without breaking the bank.

My 100 pound+ order from extreme bullets was on my door yesterday:):so that should help my little stockpile for now. Probably put in another next week.
