This is speculation on my part, but I believe your comment stems from the fact that you've never lived in a country (before now) where there was a known physical danger to the citizenry from an outside source.

The United States is the only place I've ever called home, where I am reminded at least 12 times per day how I am in danger of freedom-hating terrorists coming to kill me.

I'm quite certain the citizens of Israel do not have the same freedoms we do; I'm sure you're wrong about Israel not having a constitution.

Why Israel Needs a Constitution

Aside from being a Police State, they are also heavily socialist. Universal Government Health Care, Government Schools, Government Universities, Government Welfare, Government Housing, mandatory 2 year service to the government. They have heavy restrictions on becoming a registered gun owner who owns registered weapons.

I don't think we have too many "Liberals" here; what I do think we have are idealists who want their paradise NOW, and don't realize they are never going to get it because humans are imperfect and so is everything that humans create.

I can settle for less than utopia, but our current system is quickly turning into a nightmare.

If I am not conservative like you then I MUST be a "liberal"? Oh the horror!!!!!!! Could it possibly be that I am neither. I am a libertarian and I guess that makes me a liberal in your eyes. Gotta love the political intolerance around here sometimes. So she stands up for gun rights..so what? She will trample on other aspects of the Constitution but as long as gun rights are ok, to hell with the rest.

This is how terribly effective the Left-Right mindtrap is. It becomes an identity. To speak outside the paradigm is to make people question their very identity. Then comes the name-calling and the blind allegiance to their chosen "side." I like guns, so I must also like torture and checkpoints. Baa.

Ron Paul is a Libertarian by most standards.

Just wanted to get that straight.

Diplomacy is not my best trait. I have a wife who in her line of work, HAS to be diplomatic, and sometimes politically correct, which she hates, but it's her work, and it pays her tons of money. At least she knows the difference.
