This one fortunately stopped by a good Samaritan.
Anybody know what (if anything) will happen to Indiana Senate Bill 12?

    From: Public Safety Notice <bsusafety@bsu.edu>
Subject: Public Safety Notice: Assault near Woodworth and DeHority Date: October 15, 2009 10:31:23 AM EDT
    To: Emergency Broadcast <EmergencyBroadcast@bsu.edu>

A Palmer Hall resident reported to University Police that she was accosted from behind by a male assailant at approximately 12:45 a.m. today (Oct. 15) as she walked in the area of Woodworth and DeHority Halls. She indicated that her attacker put one arm around her body and the other over her mouth. However, he was run off by another male individual coming to her aid.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 5’-4” tall with a muscular build and wearing a red hooded sweatshirt and black sweat pants.

Police indicate that the victim was not injured, nothing was stolen, and the intent of the attack is unknown. They request that anyone who may have observed this attack, or has other information about this case, contact the UPD as soon as possible at 285-1111. They also again encourage students and all members of the campus community to be particularly alert when walking on campus after hours and/or in early morning darkness. Students and others are further urged to seek safety in numbers by not walking alone but instead in groups, and to make use of the campus shuttle bus system when in operation.

Meanwhile, persons parking their cars in outlying lots also should survey the area before exiting the relative safety of their vehicles, especially at night. And, as always, anyone noticing a suspicious person or activity on campus or in nearby, surrounding areas should notify University Police immediately.

University Police Assistant Chief Robert Fey also reminds interested campus groups and organizations that he and his officers are available to discuss appropriate personal safety measures, including self-defense, at any time. He may be contacted at 285-1210.
