Completely ridiculous. I was actually interested in this thread, at the beginning. Not with all this garbage flying around now. Unsubscribed.

    Agree.

Birthers are the worst. I can't believe they are still around.

Rigght up there with posting links that are behind a paywall.

Actually your posts are the garbage I was referring to. I've seen you stir the pot in almost every thread you show up in. I was actually looking forward to reading and discussing this new FCC subsidy since I'm in a rural area and pay about $100 a month to have the equivalent of a $35 DSL package in town. It's my only practical choice. I'm not interested in the subsidy, I wouldn't be anywhere near the qualification point. I believe people should pay their way and if they can't afford something then they shouldn't purchase it.

I'll find the information about it elsewhere and possible a discussion as well. If no discussion then oh well, I'll survive. I have no desire to wallow in the muck this thread has already become. Welcome to the ignore list. Now if we could only convince the powers that be to make the posts of those on there not appear at all...

    Bless your heart!

Is the black man really that scary?

You know, we are all of African descent.

I don't give a damn about his being black. The problem is that he is not culturally an American (a big part of the standard for a citizen, especially a natural-born citizen as outlined by deVattel) and has made it abundantly clear that he is not part of and despises most everything about our culture. He has made it clear that he wants to convert the United States into a socialist state and basically into a third-world cesspit.

Congratulations on your choice to reach for the lowest common denominator. Playing the race card in preference to addressing what a sorry, sorry excuse for a president and for a human being that Obama is speaks volumes about you.

Back to my point, if Obama wants a third-world sh*thole, let him go to a third-world s*ithole and stop attacking our republic. It just so happens that Kenya is the home of the father he venerates for some strange reason who abandoned him as a child, so Kenya seems to be the logical destination.

    Are you a birther?

I don't know about him, but in my case, why wouldn't I be? When his grandmother said he was born in Kenya, he had claimed as much before considering a run for president, and the BC he posted was a fabrication and not a scanned image (it fell apart when I tried to copy the image), why should I take his word for it. Legally, the matter was addressed by Nancy Pelosi certifying that he met the eligibility standards to her satisfaction (as if she is a credible gatekeeper). Generally, I have a big problem with serious questions being addressed with fabricated 'evidence'.

Further, I choose deliberately to believe that his status is unsatisfactory based on the simple fact that per federal regulations, I have had to produce more proof of identity, citizenship, and integrity to drive a truck than he did to be president. Does anyone else see a problem here?

Rather than subsidize individual users, I wonder if it wouldn't be more cost-effective to use Interstate highway right-of-ways to plant fiber optic and let companies tie into it. It might not necessarily speed up the last-mile service, but it would be a good start. Companies could then tie into the national infrastructure with their own fiber, and the investment requirements would be less because the majority of the network would already be there.

I couldn't read the article without subscribing but, We pay for enough free stuff for other people. I know that we need to pay "for the children"so that they can get educational websites the same way they "need" free cable for educational TV shows" so Lisa can sit on her fat ass and watch Maurey and the judge shows everyday all day while the kids are in school. But soon the people who don't work for a living will out number the rest of us and the end will come quickly, but not quite quickly enough. Go to the library I am already paying taxes for that call it a throwback to the 1980s.

How about we get really original and if there is no constitutional authority to do it, then don't do it?

FCC looks to subsidize Internet access for poor | Reuters

    No paywall on this link.

It seems that they're not necessarily expanding it, just giving households a choice on which service to spend the subsidy on?

It is funded through fees paid by landline and cellphone users and offers each eligible household $9.25 a month. The new plan does not propose changes to the funding cap.

Thank you very much. I had read about the proposal on another feed which I subscibe to. I selected the WSJ link because I hoped it wouldn't be a (too) controversial source to post, but I didn't read it through. I didn't realize it had a paywall until just now when I read radonc73s post. I was looking for another source to correct the error, and in fact had selected reuters as well, when I decided I'd better read the rest of the thread.

My apologies to all. Came across something about this (post behind paywall) in another thread but took it as just general sarcasm, not pointed sarcasm. Whoever tried to warn me - thanks, but too subtle. Just assume I'm stoopid and be direct.

What about people that live in the sticks?

Do we get to force the cable company to serve us too?

Just one more example of the libtards believing they're some sort of deranged "Robin Hood".

Want internet access? Fine, free for EVERYONE, or EVERYONE pays. I pay now, and I'm willing to stick with that option.
