I can't go above 60 MPH without my temp gauge climbing. And going mudding will peg it out.

Coolant levels are perfect. Time to flush it and see what happens.

I used to be able to travel at 70 on cruise control at 210 degrees no problem. That was a month or 2 ago

    Edit; 94 XJ

In mud, thats not a surprise. Lots of revving, little moving, low airflow over radiator. Not to mention a mud caked motor doesnt really vent heat very well lol. As for the highway, normally thatll help cool it down with the airflow.

Make sure the radiator and a/c condenser arent packed with mud. Do the flush. If those dont help, try jumping the electric fan relay to see if its working and also check to make sure the thermostat isnt stuck closed. Mud and water take out the electric fans in no time. Another thing to keep in mind when playing in mud and water in an XJ is that the alternator is mounted very low on those and are easily toasted

I've done some mild mods to my Jeep, because it is my daily driver, and I liked the way it drove when stock. I first added 4 Baja Designs Soltek Fuego lights, including 2 driving lights and two pencil beams. I've since added a 2" AEV spacer lift, and 33" BFG KM2's, and most recently, an Engo 10k winch with synthetic rope and a Poison Spyder light mount.

Here it is at Redbird before the lift/tires/winch.

This is a shot of it last December down at Turkey Bay, at Land Between the Lakes. It had the lift and tires, but no winch at that point. (The kids LOVE Jeeping.)

Here's another with the KM2's and lift.

One more mod--a rear-facing seat for kids. This allowed for 6 kids plus me and the wife! We took it to Colorado a few years back, with everyone on board and a pop-up camper. The trails around Buena Vista are simply amazing. I'll try and find some pics. Showed a few built 4x4's what a stock Rubi with 8 people in it can do on the trails! Unfortunately, (for the Jeep), We've added two more kids and a niece to the family. A 15 passenger Chevy Express doesn't do so well off road.

Finally, here it is with the winch. I had Baja Designs refurbish the lights (They were showing wear after 4 years) and they rebuilt them for free. I changed the rings on them to blue. I'll post a better pic of the Jeep as it sits now, when I get a good one. The mount is a Rough Country winch plate, with the shackle option. I added that because the tow hook mounts are used for the plate.

The next mod will be some magnetic skins to prevent scratches from brush. I saw a cool Jeep near Danville with those. He's wheeled for 6 or 7 years with them and didn't have a scratch on his Jeep. His dad had them with a big American flag imprinted on them. It looked incredible!

Not sure what I'll do next.

By the way, Jeepaddons sold me the 10k winch with synthetic line for $439, shipped! It includes both a wired remote and wireless, as well. This winch has developed quite a following and good reputation after a test in 4Wheeler magazine a couple years ago, where it outperformed a Warn and everyone else. The magazine still gave Warn the win, because they liked the lettering and marking on the remote better. (Seriously.)

They also have a 9k for $409, and a 12k for 489, both with synthetic rope. A 9k with steel line is only $279! PM me if you want the phone number and the name of the guy who handles this deal. I wasn't wanting to shell out for a winch originally, but I couldn't pass up that deal.

I'm so glad I looked at this. I'll be grabbing up that E9000 with synthetic line for mine.

Took my rig on her annual trip to Harlan a couple weeks ago. Had a good time minus the burnt up CPS and blown up Power Steering pump on the way home.

Here I am playing around in upper rock garden.....on 3" of lift and 32's in My DD! :D
