Any legal way to take pistol into Illinois?

Forget the carry gun remember it's the Communistic Republic of Illinois, take a carbine with a 16 inch barrel!

I suggest a Kel-Tec Sub 2000 Carbine which uses Glock 17 magazines. It folds up, weighs only 4 lbs, has 16.5" barrel

Um I remember this one time at band camp, we um had to disassemble our weapons and then um weld them into one huge indiscerible blob and then encase it in concrete before sealing that in a chamber of molten steel. After the steel hardened we had to get special permits from herr presidente to allow us to go to the . . . . .What was the question?
