    Hello,
I recently purchased this lever action a few months ago and have loved every minute of it. I do load my own so it makes it a lot less costly for me to go out and shoot.
    I guess my questions are:
What have you hunted with it?
What kind of yardage (scoped or open)?
Do you reload your own (if so what's your favorite load)?
Any known problems with the gun?

Like I said above I have been more then pleased and the right out of the box accuarcy has been absolutely astonishing! It's my new favorite gun.
I'm just trying to get some more knowledge on it.

    Thanks for the help

I purchased one last year, love it, nice tree stand gun, killed 6-pointer with it close range. Shoot Hornady lever revolution 225gr.FTX New to reloading working on it I will have to let you know. I put a Simmons 3x9x40 cheap but working out O.K.

I've had one for about 20 years, shot it in some compitition and killed a few deer with it, on the whole very disapointed with the "accuracy", I've tried a couple different scope configurations, can't find a scope configuration that I can shoot comfortably, Basically the only reason I keep it is its a gift from my girlfriend at the time who is now my wife, I guess If I could trade them both in for a new model I'd do it (lol)

I've tried loading my own and several factory loadings, I've never been able to get more than 4 inches at 75 with it with any ammo, I've shot hard cast lead, hornady 240's, remingtion 240's and 225's, the jacketed bullets stoked with h110 and the lead with hs6

The new hornady lever evolution shoots as well as anything in it and the puma I have outshoots the marlin hands down,

I've heard people talk about better accuracy with thier's but I've never seen them do it on demand at a match

I got one last year and love it. I shoot the Hornady 225 for deer hunting and got my 8 pointer this past year at about 90 yards. I have it scoped and have also just started to reload for it. I'm using Sierra 210 HP for now and we'll see how it does. With the Hornady I can get 3 shot groups at 2" from 100 yards. Absolutely love it!

I've had problems with "flyers" with mine. Come to figure out that the soft nosed ammo tends to get the bullet tip deformed when it hits the feed ramp.
Hornady Leverevolution pretty much cured that problem.

And if you'd like to get rid of it... call me!!

What is a 1894 Pre safety that is in 95%, and I mean it my screw heads are not rounded off where you have to keep tightening the lever and loading gate,

Thats another peev on this gun, Look at most of the used guns and they all have the screw heads messed up because they alway shoot loose and people grab a Dime or a pocket knife to tighten up the screws, Also the loading gate metal is so thin that you wear off the end of the loading gate if you shoot it much,

WWW.marlinowners.com Great place to find out about these guns. I have one not hunted with it yet. Still working on the load for it. Osprey International scope. It may get the Marlin jam, the boys @marlinowners can help with that.

I have an old 1894 Microgroove and shoot RD 265 Grain cast lead bullets sized to .432 on top of 21.5 grains of Lil'Gun. Powerful and accurate the rifle is topped with a 4X Leupold scope. Used to shoot Hornady 265 Grain JSPs with good results but gave them up a couple of years back due to cost.:)

i had touble with tumblers, i only shot the winchester 240 magnums loads and it shot terrible. I loaded my own 180 grain hornady XTP loaded to 44 special specs and it only slowed down about 25 fps. that's when the accuarace came together. i hold a decent group @ 75 and i shot an 8 pointer @ 130 yds last year. I've heard that the hornady lever revolution bullets shoot awesome, but i haven't tried them yet. GOOD LUCK!

I have shot quite a few deer with .44 mags, both 1895 and 336. Shot placement is IMO more critical than with a muzzle loader or shotgun slug. I shoot the Hornaday 300 grain and it works.

anyone know why marlin changed from micro groove rifling to the standard rifling int he barrel bore in the 1990's? i was just wondering what the accuracy differences were.
