I used to feel the same, but I own and shoot all the basic pistol calibers. I do enjoy reloading and shooting .45ACP, though.

I felt that way for a long time then recently added a 9mm. Figured I could hand load twice as much ammo for the same cost vs the .45.

Actually thought about making the switch permanently to 9mm but every time I pick up the .45 I cant put it down or stop shooting it. Wonderful round it is and I feel like I shoot it better than the 9.

I've been a fan of the soul killing .45acp since my early days in the USMC. I swore I would use no other handgun caliber. Until...Federal HST 9mm 147gr+P came around. Matched up in the G19.
You should give it a shot.

I love a .45 in a 1911 and not much else personally, all my other handguns are in either 9MM or .22LR.

Make mine a .40 with Winchester PDX. 10+1 in an M&P compact is just the ticket for SD. 11 rounds of .40 in a smaller and lighter than any 45 package that'll only hold 7 or so rounds makes a whole lot of sense. No need to live in the past :)

15+1 in the FS with a 5" barrel is perfect for the house or the range. That's 2x as many rounds as a 1911.

I own quite a few calibers in handgun but not a 40...just don't see the need when I own 38 Supers. Now in 45 the 45 Super makes a nice step up in power and if you really want a bang go to the 460 Rowland, I had the cylinder in my 625 cut for that round and it is a powerhouse.

I love the 45. Feels at home in a 1911 and is a joy to shoot IMHO. I shoot 9 and 380 probably twice as much because they're my HD/EDC guns. Never had a desire to go to 40s&w.

Love shooting .45. 1911 was my first handgun so .45 will probably always be my #1...caught the revolver bug pretty hard over the past year though. That being said I think shooting.357 is still second to .45 (by a narrow margin).

That explains why most people are moving away from .40 then darn. Nope will stick with my 1911's and Sig's.

I do like .45 acp in my Para Ordnance 1911 and Sig P220 Carry. I also have 9mm for a Sig P226 and a couple of Glock models in .40SW. Recently the P220 has been my favorite to shoot, though the P226 was fun tonight!

I have 4 - 45s, 3 Glocks and a 1911 from Springfield armory. I guess you could say I like 45s. I shoot them all. I like shooting the Glock 36 the best. It's about the same weight as the 1911 and is in a more compact size. The Glock 30 and 21 are great guns but they are just so big. I don't see them as real concealed carry guns.

Have three 45ACP handguns. 1911A1, 1911 Commander, Glock 21. Also own a Glock 19, which seems to be a favorite carry lately.
The 45ACP is an awesome round, many choices of ammo. Like Ball 230gr for target shooting, Gold Dots for CCW.

The G19 snuck in, and is easy to shoot well. 15rd mags give it a slight edge, but the G21 follows suit with 13 +1. I find the pair of Glocks being carried on occasion. The G19 is my NW Indiana Reload( similar in thought to the New York concept) to the strong side G21. (Even do a 442 Snub if wearing my M65 Field jacket and vest concealment.

The 1911's send subliminal messages about the M65, and 1911 being matched due to a 100+ year former US military use. I do listen and swap out a Glock for a 1911 Gov't Model 5 in bbl. All respect intended. Great firearms all.

All I know is that when I go to the range, I shoot way more 45ACP rounds than anything else.

Same here. Once I started shooting .45 out of my 1911's, it was hard for me to want to shoot anything else. I do have a couple of nice cajunized CZ's in .40 and 9mm that I enjoy shooting when I run out of .45, but if money were no object I would never shoot anything but .45 :D

To me it's .357 magnum, .45 ACP, .22, and .44 Magnum....Those calibers cover everything from self defense, plinking, deer hunting, woods coyote hunting, small game hunting etc......I have long guns in three out of the four and my .45 ACP's are in vintage revolvers and 1911's...

When I was in my late teens those rounds did the job and as far as I know, humans, tin cans, deer, varmints, small game etc...Are made the same way with the same materials as they were in 1980 or so...

I have a personal disdain towards the .40 s&w. What had once been very well balanced firearms (like the Browning Hi Power or W. German P226) had their slides beefed up in order to handle the hotter .40 s&w and it made them seem top heavy to me....I know it's probably stupid to think that way but I hold it against the .40 s&w.....
