I'm thinking about striping the finish off a knife and was curious if anyone else had ever done it for whatever reason. The knife I'm going to be tinkering on if the eskabar. It's a good knife and I have no reason to abuse it other than it's high carbon and if I completely ruin it I'm not out a lot of cash.

If nobody answers here, go to bladeforums. I know I saw a thread where someone did that, unless old age is really messing with my memory. It turned out sexy, though I'm not blade-smart enough to talk about what issues it might cause. Lots of others here are, though.

I took the finish off the blade of my BK14 at the same time I convexed the blade. The ESEE finish came right off. I've heard of some folks using citrus stripper, I think from Walmart.

I've done several Busses, just get gel paint stripper and it comes with off within a couple minutes.

Use gloves though, that gel stuff is pretty nasty and it does burn

Strips coating quickly and easily. (also gets rid of pesky aircraft infestations)

see the you tube video where Chris Tanner strips a Becker with no problems. It's a PREPARED MINDS 101 video.

That was the one I saw where they used the product I bought. I just haven't had the time to use it yet. I will tonight though.... hopefully.
