Anyone have first-hand experience shipping a vehicle across the country? Basically Indy to Reno, NV.

And yes, I know how to use Google, but I'm asking INGO members, not Google's search algorithm. Already did that. :)

Thanks in advance for any input you may have!

A few years ago I sold a Jeep Liberty to a woman in Kansas. She operated a trucking company and arranged for a semi-truck flatbed to pick the vehicle in Greenwood on a return trip from the east coast.

Why did this thread make me think of Johnny Cash?

Why was my phone able to predict Cash after Johnny?

There are outfits that specialize in upscale car transport and some moving companies that can put it in the lower level of a trailer and ship it when they ship someone's furniture to the area. That was lots cheaper but a pain for scheduling and delivery time is uncertain. It has been many years, but I'll bet this is still good advice; Take lots of clear detailed pictures and buy all the insurance you can. stuff happens. Sorry I cannot recommend an Indiana company, my neighbor was a United Van Lines driver when I lived in Illinois.

What type of vehicle are we talking like a 1982 Ford Escort which will require shrink wrap, and other protective measures To ensure its pristine arrival?

I sold a car to a guy in Saudi several years back with delivery in Salt Lake. He played hell finding a shipper to Salt Lake but finally made the arrangements and it went off without a hitch. Sorry can't remember their name.

I've got a coworker who did almost the exact reverse of what you are wanting to do. Said it was a painless process. The car hauler unloaded his car in a Meijer parking lot at this end. I'll ask him what company he used and get that information back to you Tuesday when we are back at work.

I shipped my GN from out around Seattle, WA. I either used Montway or Riteway. I started with one and they took about 2 weeks and still hadn't found a shipper. I called the other and it was on it's way in 2 days. I can't remember which was which but I called Gateway Classic Cars and got the info from them. I've got the drivers info but can find it. If I find it I'll pass along.

Just a regular SUV...not a 1963 Vette or anything close to collectable.

My hope is no windows are broken, no tires flat and it starts upon arrival. :):

You might try to find someone with a lot of time on their hands to drive it out there for you and fly back. I’ve flown to pick up a couple cars I have bought on line but never the opposite. When you figure the cost it’s usually a bit cheaper, depending on where it needs delivered.
