Looks like reporters at the Washington Examiner basically just made the whole endorsement thing up and other sources re-cycled it. They attribute all claims of endorsement to a "McCain family source".... but don't name the source...

I am still not seeing where Biden may have claimed this himself, just a fake news faux pas.
