Hey Ryan can you give me the specs on your optic setup. I'm looking for the same thing. Thanks! If anyone else knows, feel free to bud in!

    • Leupold Mark AR Mod 1 1.5-4x
    • Leupold Mark 2 IMS 1" Mount

I would recommend replacing the Leupold mount with something that has QD. As it sits my backup irons are effectively useless if I don't have a nut driver handy to remove the scope mount. The upside is I've put it through an extreme test that a QD mount probably would not have survived and the POI shift was hardly noticeable.

If you're looking at the low-power variable magnification scopes here is a comparison sheet I put together when I was making my decision.

Awesome. You confirmed my suspicions. Right now that setup is on Amazon for $375.79 before shipping which isn't bad. I agree that the QD would be a wise choice. And as soon as I feel comfortable spending $200 on a dang mount, I'll do that haha.

I imagine that's the scope without the SPR Firedot reticle. While it is really nice I don't think it's necessary.

Experimenting with different support hand angles. Definitely a fan of the higher grip.

My favorite is the 11.5 suppressed sbr

Looking good! Now get a little more weight out on the front foot if you can. That will help control the recoil even more.

Right, and I don't see the need in spending a little more money for that reticle. I'll go with the cheaper one. Thanks for the help and that awesome spreadsheet!

I built this AR for the GF. She is 5'2" and about 120 soaking wet so a lightweight build was what I was looking for. Started with an APG lower and DPMS Oracle 16" barreled upper. Furniture is all Mission First Tactical and I went with a Trijicon Reflex Sight so there aren't any dead battery worries in the middle of the night. Rifle is a blast to shoot and she has no problems with 1/4 scale steel silhouettes offhand at 100 yards.

Finished this $800 build.....well, almost finished. Need a roll pin to drop in the FA. Other than that, she's done.

    Aero matched forged upper/lower
    Voodoo melonite 16" middy
    PSA premium FA BCG
    Diamondhead Vrs-t rail
    Spikes parts kit
    Vortex Strikefire
BCM buffer components and charging handle

Thanks to everyone on here that helped me with figuring out parts for this build.

I've changed a few cosmetic things with this carbine since I got it. I've been using the stubby grip as a support stop instead of a stand alone grip for my extended hand. I took the red dot off a while back because it was cheap and could never get it sighted in right. Next major thing is to change out the standard trigger to a 2 stage trigger and then I'll rock that for a while, but that's still a ways down the road.
