^ I have one very similar to that purchased new about that same time frame (From Bradis for ~$700). The ones made right before the Clinton assault weapon ban came with a blue label box. My bayonet mount is cut off, the shelf behind the safety pinned with a steel block (pulled it out using pliers and lost it), the bottom rear of the bolt carrier whacked off & it has large trigger / fire control assembly pins & ONE stinking 5 round modified 20 rnd mag. All part of Colt's pre-emptive-gotta-still-be-able-to-sell-rifles-after-the-ban effort.

I've seen them on gun show vendor tables priced at ~$2300 but never saw anyone walk away with one.

I’m not proud of it or what is in it.... but I built it extremely cheap and it will serve the purpose of living in my truck

Here's my current go-to gun. It's a BCM 14.5" pinned with the socom profile. Normal BCM complete lower, added mod 4 charging handle, and carry handle all BCM. Flashlight mount was an old school quick detach type that's actually amazingly solid and incredibly cheap. Everything on this rifle is just the way I like it, and to be honest I completely forgot how nice it was shooting an AR with the old school double heat shield handguard. It stays so nice and cool compared to a rail. Anyway, I'm really liking this rifle so far.

I admit, I do like the old style handguards. I'm considering maybe getting a replica of the A1 that my pop would've had in Vietnam.

It's weird because I've been away from double heat shield handguards for so long I really forgot how nice and unappreciated they are. I'm totally on board with the new Brownells Retro line and I'm excited that they've gone through the effort to make that happen. I hope they sell like crazy and start a new trend in the industry.

I like the banana clip. Yes I know it's a mag, just the non gun public calls them banana clips.

Also I have toyed with the idea of a belt fed upper, yours looks like it is 9MM?

That sticker actually came off a banana haha.

Yes, currently freedom ordnance only offers a 9mm. Three different barrel lengths I believe, 7.5”, 11” and 16”. Mine is the 11”. It’ll throw the links about 10 ft which kinda sucks.

Thought about doing one of those Ares .223/5.56 uppers. They’ve came down a little bit in price since they’ve come out.

It was the Ares uppers that I had looked at in the past, didn't want one bad enough for what they were asking at the time, which I believe was $2500.

This one. Well.. I had a lot of spare parts sitting around really don’t have any other excuses than that. A friend of mine was getting into hydrodipping and wanted some AR parts to practice on for free. I told him to supprise me haha. It all just kinda fell into place after that. I think Mr. Deadpool would be happy. Ugly as sin but whatever it makes me laugh. You’ll have to use your imagination what it says on the dust cover.

I'm going to dabble in the 300 Blackout game. I installed this Bear Creek 300 upper on my DD lower tonight. Still waiting on a few components to start reloading some food for it.
